ALIBABA CAFE & RESTAURANT

A restaurant cum museum I would say. The restaurant is basically themed on "Alibaba and the forty thieves," based on which it holds a 40-seating capacity. The ambience takes one on a trip to Arabia all the way to Persia and back to India to a place called "Bhatkal" located on the coast of Karnataka.
This is one of the finest restaurants found in Bangalore which is bang in the heart of the city located in Frazer town on M.M. road. serving mouthwatering Arabian, Persian and Bhatkali food. No place 2 beat the ambience. Gives u a complete Middle Eastern feel. The "Shaiya Biryani" of the Bhatkali cuisine is simply ultimate! and the Al faham chicken barbeque out of the Arabian cuisine is just regardless and also the Arabian biryani (Kabsa) .
Last but not the least is the Persian cuisine. The chicken Jujeh Kabab is simply different in flavour and is unbeatably juicy.. A must try Restaurant!

Empire Chain of restaurants in Bangalore have the best Kababs in town. Make sure you go there on an empty tummy.. you get awesome Kerala Parathas, Ceylon Parathas, Butter Chicken, Biryani. Service is quick if you order any of the above . Vegetarians may not find much to eat here. Chicken Kababs

Tiger Bay is a speciality resatuarant.. that serves wonderful Seafood....besides the food being good the location is even better. Its bang on MG Road . So after a long day shopping you can treat your tastebuds as well at Tiger Bay . A bit on the pricey side but worth it especially if you want to try out exotic seafood .At Tiger Bay there is not just Thai, continental, and English flavours, but also our very own Goan, Bengali, Parsi, Kerala, and Manglorean delicacies .

None can come to Bangalore and not eat at KOSHY'S . Every Sunday they serve the best Aapam & stew possible. Even if you cant make it for breakfast its open all days for lunch and dinner . The service aint the best in town but the food is excellent..Good Steaks .. TRY THE SMILEYS ..the burgers are good , chicken liver sandwiches .. TIRAMISU (Sinfulll ) .. Liquor is also served ..the list is endless... The actual life of Koshy's is to sit in the non a/c section ... you will encounter all the arty literati crowd of Bangalore there....and ofcourse Mr Prem Koshy himself may happen to pass by just to check if you having a good time..

South India is famous for its special dishes and anyone visiting the South should not miss the South Indian delicacies that are available there. You can try the wonderful Dosas they make or the Idli or even the South Indian Thali. There are lots of roadside cafes serving South Indian food in Bangalore. But if you want to have authentic South Indian cuisine, then I would recommend a restaurant to you. It is TEMPTATIONS in Koramangala. They truly make authentic South Cuisine and you can get practically anything there. Not only that, you can get grilled sandwiches as well.

Savoury as the name suggest has some very yummy Arabic Food .. run by Mid East return Malayalees , this tiny little restaurant is loacte d on Mosque Road . Must haves are definelty the GRILL CHICKEN , SHAWARMA ROLL ( MUTTON /CHICKEN ) , HUMMUS , KABOOS, AND THE JUICES . The best part is when you go thru d menu n you reach the Juice Section .. these guys have gotten reallly innovative..heres a few egs - INTERNET, ROLEX, COMPUTER, SHABAB .. n even wid those weird names each of them are excellent .

Authentic Chinese food is Mainland China. Here you can expect to get all sorts of Chinese cuisine like Hunan and Cantonese. You can also try their Oriental dishes. They really cook well and they have a lot of items in their menu. I like their Hunan Chicken the most. The sauce is very light but believe me, there is no loss of taste

But http://bangalore.hungryzone.com turned out to be a blessing! All I need to do is log in and book a table. It is so easy and convenient that even a busy person can afford to surprise my family with dinner plans! I stay in the outskirts of the city at Sahakarnagar and Bhagini is the closest Andhra joint.
They have many branches but the one is Sahakarnagar is good. Service is friendly and the price is not too high either. I suggest people staying away from the center to log on to Bangalore hungry zone if you want to order food, book a table or even buy drinks. They have a section dedicated to top restaurants in cuisines too!

TACO BELL

Taco Bell has inexpensive food, great variety, lightening fast service, and I love the food. You get a lot, and it's cheap.
Also, Taco Bell has one of the largest selections of low fat items of any of the traditional fast food chains. Soft chicken tacos without the sauce is an excellent healthy choice.
If you think that eating at our traditional Mexican places is healthier than Taco Bell, like Rudy's, and especially Rose Cafe, you are sadly mistaken.
You'll go home with more saturated fat, cholesterol, and trans fats in one meal than you'd get at Taco Bell in a year.

The Owner Glen Bell he started with the idea of selling crispy shell tacos from the window of his hamburger stand which became popular in due course of time and the foundation of Taco Bell, the customers called as  " TAY- KOHS"

Taco Bellis has set its iconic GORDITA to consumers in India. A main stay of Taco Bell menus across the world for decades , the KICKIN' CHICKEN GORDITA is a new menu item combining the flavours and textures of the gordita bread and the kickin' sauce

The new menu item is available in both a CRISPY CHICKEN non-vegetarian variant as well as a vegetarian MEXICAN PANEER variant, filled with iceberg lettuce and tangy salsa. So, what are you waiting for? Come try the newest innovation in town.

FIVE BEVERAGES to quench your thirst

Foe people who spend half of the year in mind-boggling heat and another quarter in muggy humidity. To smile through it all, you need - loads and loads of the squishy stuff ! With soft drink fads definitely being on the way out (imagine they use it as pesticide - and it works!), and tea/coffee being awfully dehydrating, here are a few other options for the weight watchers and the health freaks-

Lemonade or good old nimbu-paani. Easily prepared with a dash of lime and a pinch of salt and yummy to boot, this remains my eternal favorite. If you happen to be outside, a packaged lemonade is available in the shops, though it’s a bit too sweet for my taste. Dabur Lemoneez deserves mention here as a terrific and convenient option, though I don?t suppose it matches a lemon in the goody Vitamin C content.

Weight-watchers - a half-slice of lemon with a spoonful of honey in a glass of lukewarm water first thing in the morning is a natural slimming remedy ? see if it works!

Buttermilk or good old lassi is not only yummy but also cool in the summer heat. Kids love the frothy bubbles on top.
There is also a commercial lassi available at the local Mother Dairy. Packed in a convenient sachet that can be cut at the top, it comes in both sweet and salty flavors. Need I say I love the salty one ? Priced at just Rs.5/-, it wins hands don over any cold drink - ad or no ad. At home, it is also the easiest thing to whip up and serve to guests.

Weight-watchers - Use toned milk and skip the sugar.

Milk shakes, Milk shakes ? the eternal milk shakes - Well, what better way to get that dos of calcium down, stay healthy and yet beat the heat ? Shake up a glass of milk with plenty of fruit and there you are ! Now, the best milk shakes, I still say are -Nirula’s. I can never forget their Hot Chocolate Fudge. A word to the wise - The cold coffee at McDonald?s is passable, and just pass on the iced tea.

Weight-watchers - Use toned milk and avoid ice-cream.

For my fourth choice, I pick Jaljeera - tangy, tasty and just right. You can go in for the bottled kind, but the best variety is authentic. Add loads of crushed ice and be ready with a mocktail and an appetizer to beat any other.

Weight-watchers - You just can’t go wrong with this choice. Just sit back and relax.

Last but not the least water melon juice The best way to have this is pure and simple with lots of ice and a dash of rock salt.

Weight-watchers - Artificial sweeteners are harmful in many other ways that sugar is not. It is much better to rely on diet control and exercise.

Happy drinking!

KINGS BEER - GOA XPECIAL

During my recent trip to Goa,I was introduced to Kings beer. This beer is made in Goa and cannot be taken out ,hence not available elsewhere.

Once I sipped it, I fell in love with its mild, pleasant flavour and abandoned all other brands during my stay there.

Kings beer has 0.5 percent less alcohol content than normal beers. It has no after taste as all other beers have. The chilled beer is no nice tasting that one can keep on guzzling it endlessly.

The beer is available only as 330 ml bottles so no wastage . It is cheaper than all other brands, costing just 20 bucks per bottle.

The high is also gentle, suggesting a nicer fermentation process.

Perfect for the hot dry climate. The only thing that draws down the grade is the variation in quality. One Kings could taste very differently from another. It is available in two types, Lager and Pilsner. The pilsner is not as popular. The Lager is just great. A buffed flavor which you can appreciate in a beer especially in India. Extremely refreshing and quite mild

But that just fits in to the whole image of India. You never knew what you could expect.

Though Goa is associated generally with its feni and wine as its conventional drinks,Kings beer is more largely consumed with esp the younger crowds moving about with kings bottles in their hands.
A must have during visit to Goa.

Little Kings kept brewing in Cincinnati until 2001 when production moved to Frederick, Maryland. In 2004, Greg Hardman launched Christian Moerlein Company and began to bring Cincinnati's beer brands back to town. Little Kings is now brewed in Over-the-Rhine.

CASU MARZU

well here is another interesting ’food’

Casu Marzu — a putrefied cheese infested with live, wriggling maggots.

To craft this noxious specialty Sardinian cheesemakers encourage the cheese fly, Piophilia casei, a.k.a. the “cheese skipper,” to lay eggs in their pecorino cheeses.

(“Pecorino” is a general Italian term for sheep milk’s cheese.) One traditional method is to drill in the block of cheese and slip in a drop of oil to attract the vermin.

But the effort isn’t always needed. While cheese skippers originally evolved to scavenge decomposed corpses, they’ve taken enthusiastically to the cured and fermented foods of humans.

Casu Marzu is a local delicacy in very high demand. It’s a highly pungent, super soft cheese that oozes tears (“lagrima”), and fittingly so, as it tends to burn on the tongue.

Some say Casu Marzu tastes like an extremely ripe Gorgonzola. That is, of course, without the savoury blue veins and with a whole lot of larva. One piece of Casu Marzu may be populated by thousands of living, breathing maggots.

In fact, local Sardinians will tell you the spicy, creamy cheese is only okay to eat if the maggots are still moving. Apparently, once the maggots are dead, the Casu Marzu has gone bad – decayed to a point that’s too toxic for human consumption.

Casu Marzu cannot be legally sold in Italy, but mountain shepherds continue to produce it in small quantities for the black market. It’s often kept under the table, but only for the most trusted customers. Selling or serving it is punishable by a hefty fine.

If you find yourself with strong stomach and a local Sardinian connection, Casu Marzu may be procured – for about twice the price per pound as regular Pecorino. It’s generally served with thin slices of Sardinian bread (pane carasau) and a strong, red wine called Cannonau.

One final note of caution, some people wear eye protection when eating Casu Marzu: the maggots are known to jump as high as six inches and straight toward the eyeballs with exact precision. At a minimum, make a maggot sandwich and shield your eyes with your hand as you take a bite.

Buono appetito!

KOPI LUWAK

Kopi Luwak or Civet coffee is coffee made from coffee berries which have been eaten by and passed through the digestive tract of the Asian Palm Civet (Paradoxurus hermaphroditus).

The civets eat the berries, but the beans inside pass through their system undigested. This process takes place on the islands of Sumatra, Java and Sulawesi in the Indonesian Archipelago, in the Philippines (where the product is called Kape Alamid) and in East Timor (locally called kafé-laku).

Vietnam has a similar type of coffee, called weasel coffee, which is made from coffee berries which have been regurgitated by local weasels. In actuality the "weasel" is just the local version of the Asian Palm Civet.Kopiis the Indonesian word for coffee, and luwak is a local name of the Asian Palm Civet.

The raw, red coffee berries are part of its normal diet, along with insects, small mammals, small reptiles, eggs and nestlings of birds, and other fruit. The inner bean of the berry is not digested, but it has been proposed that enzymes in the stomach of the civet add to the coffee’s flavor by breaking down the proteins that give coffee its bitter taste. The beans are defecated, still covered in some inner layers of the berry.

The beans are washed, and given only a light roast so as to not destroy the complex flavors that develop through the process. Some sources claim that the beans may be regurgitated instead of defecated. In early days, the beans would be collected in the wild from a "latrine," or a specific place where the civet would defecate as a means to mark its territory, and these latrines would be a predictable place for local gatherers to find the beans.

More commonly today, captured civets are fed raw berries, the feces produced are then processed and the coffee beans offered for sale.Kopi Luwak is the most expensive coffee in the world, selling for between $120 and $600 USD per pound, and is sold mainly in Japan and the United States. It is increasingly becoming available elsewhere, though supplies are limited; only 1,000 pounds (450 kg) at most make it into the world market each year. O

ne small cafe, the Heritage Tea Rooms, in the hills outside Townsville in Queensland, Australia, has Kopi Luwak coffee on the menu at A$50.00 (=US$33.00) per cup, selling approximately four cups a week, which has gained nationwide Australian press. I

n April 2008, the brasserie of Peter Jones department store in London’s Sloane Square started selling a blend of Kopi Luwak peanut and Blue Mountain called Caffe Raro for £50 (=US$99.00) a cup.

It has also recently become available at Selfridges, London, as part of their "Edible" range of exotic foods.

It is also available in Toronto Canada at Coffeeholic: Handdrip Roastery in the upper Forest Hill village on Eglinton Avenue West. Now how many of us will want to try this out
